Medieval fortress with strong walls and well-preserved tower in the heart of Tuscany and the Val d'Orcia ... excellent wine and great food! Since 1200, the village has retained its present form with the walls, the Church, still bear witness to the heyday, preserving many beautiful frescoes in the church. A unique example of cultural autonomy and collective commitment featuring Monticchiello and its inhabitants is the : "Poor Theatre". The theatrical experience is a component closely linked to the life and history of the community from the past. The shows offer a discussion of current problems by recalling the local history and proposing the country life. It's 'written and recited by the people of Monticchiello. Side events such as exhibitions, conferences and performances accompany the theatrical activity throughout the year that culminates in the summer (mid July to mid-August, shows every night).
